Phyllis BPhyllis Boydoyd,

Associate Principal

I am Phyllis Boyd and I am serving in my 28th year in Cahokia School District 187. I started in 1990 as a paraprofessional, then I was a teacher for 9 years and then an assistant principal, principal and associate principal for the past 18 years. My primary role is serving as the 9th grade principal.

The 9th graders are very active and it is rewarding because they continue to give me life. There is always something with them and I take pride in them being able to come to me and discuss whatever they are going through. Our students participate in clubs, activities and sports and the support shown to them is great. My educational highlight is to see the students enter Cahokia High School as a 9th grader and graduate in 4 years. The levels of maturity is amazing!

Cahokia High School has a lot of great things going on and we appreciate any feedback that we receive from our parents, students and staff. We all want you to know that we have an open-door policy and we are all striving for the same goal and that is to educate your child and help them become productive citizens in whatever community they choose!

Hello my name is Valeska Hill and it is my distinct honor to return to the district to serve our scholars and families in our community. I have been married for 27 years to Todd Hill. We have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. I am a member of New Life Community Church in East St. Louis, IL and also a Sunday School Teacher. I am also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  I am entering my 25th year in the educational arena with 19 years as an Administrator and 6 years as a classroom teacher. I am proud to announce that I began my teaching career at Wirth Middle School within the Cahokia School District in 1994 where I taught Special Education for four years then transferred to Cahokia High School in 1998 and taught ninth grade for 2 years.

In 2000, I was offered my first job in Administration as an Assistant Principal at North Jr. High in Collinsville School District for 1 year. I have served 3 years as a Special Education Administrator. I have also served as an Elementary Principal for 6 years and a Middle School Principal for 7 years. For the past 2 years, I am currently serving as the Associate Principal at CHS for 11th grade.

I am a firm believer that it takes a “Village to Raise a Child” and I pride myself in going beyond the call of duty to ensure that our scholars are provided with all the necessary services and supports in order to become successful in this ever changing society.
